Street works are essential works carried out in the highway by electricity, water, gas and telecoms utilities, to, maintain, enhance, extend, renew and repair their networks.
The NJUG Vision leaflet explains the National Joint Utilities Group’s vision for street works. It is a significant step forward that helps provide focus whilst maintaining a balanced perspective. It supports the implementation of the new Traffic Management Act 2004 as well as existing street works legislation and codes of practice. We shall continue to engage with utilities and their contractors to deliver the vision.
Originally published in 2007, the latest version (available to view here) was launched during the NJUG 2009 Parliamentary Reception, updated to reflect developments in the industry, progress that has been made, and new areas where focus is required.
