WHY JOIN NJUG?

NJUG Membership Benefits

NJUG members enjoy many benefits, from being at the forefront of knowledge regarding new and proposed legislation to providing new business opportunities to meeting face to face with the politicians whose opinions can affect your business.

There are three kinds of NJUG membership:

Full and Trade Association members get direct representation on the Management Committee and participate directly in the work of HAUC (UK) and the associated government working parties.

Associate Members are represented on the Board of Directors of NJUG by an accessible designated Director and have the opportunity to network with the people involved in street works including all member utilities and contractors, key industry players, government officials and parliamentarians, lawyers, journalists and new business contacts. They have access to restricted web site information and have free access to NJUG sponsored conferences and events. They cannot however, sit on local, regional or national HAUC (UK) related meetings unless by invitation from the joint chairs.

PLEASE NOTE THIS YEAR, NJUG HAS LAUNCHED A NEW INITIATVE ENTITLED, 'AFFILIATESHIP'. Any organisation that provides equipment, products, materials and / or services that help to deliver the NJUG Vision can apply to become an NJUG Affiliate. For more information please click here.

Events

All members are invited to attend events organised by NJUG such as:

The Logo of Responsible Street Works

The NJUG logo is recognised by industry, parliamentarians and consumers as a sign of good business practice. The logo denotes the basic NJUG principles of adherence to regulation and HAUC (UK) street works code of practice and best practice. All NJUG members may use the NJUG logo on their website, headed paper and promotional material.

Members Only Information Service and Resource

All members receive exclusive access to appropriate insider knowledge through NJUG’s work with governmental and non-governmental organisations. NJUG members receive e-mail alerts on developments of regulatory or legislative relevance that are likely to affect industry and full and trade association members have access to:

All members also have access to the NJUG web site and Hotline. If you have a query which the web site doesn’t cover, you can gain access to the accumulated knowledge of the NJUG Management Committee through the members Hotline.

Newsletters

All members receive a regular printed copy of the NJUG newsletter. It covers up to date news and features on various street works and other utility related issues.

Involvement in Shaping Public Policy

NJUG is a strong advocate of industry self-regulation, and ensures our members' interests are always appropriately represented

NJUG helps to shape future regulation on behalf of its members. It provides opportunities for members to convey their company's interest to government officials and parliamentarians face-to-face. NJUG also respond to consultations on behalf of all our members.

Tackling lobbying and the media as an industry body means a stronger voice and avoids the need for individual members to raise controversial issues of wider utility concern. All new full and trade association members will be offered a seat on the Public Affairs and Public Relations Group, giving an opportunity to influence NJUG’s policy and external communication agenda.

For details on how to become a member, please contact the NJUG Secretariat at info@njug.org.uk or on 0207 340 8737.
